Overview of the latest DVLA auction of Private Number Plates
The latest DVLA auction of Private Number Plates took place at the Manchester United football ground at Old Trafford over the three days of March the 24th to March the 26th. There were fifteen hundred selected registration numbers offered for sale with all but 102 succesfully achieving or exceeding the published reserve price. Bids for all numbers totalled £3,332,100, to which has to be added auctioneers premium, vat and transfer fees of £80 per number. Top performer was the registration 9 0 which brought a winning bid of £74,500 with the second placed OFF 1 bringing £30,000. Third was 2 OOO at £25,200, surprisingly beating 1 RRH at 20,500.Surprising results were A711 WAL, although Athwal is a surname, and NAB 333L which made £6200. There were some bargains with many numbers selling for a maiden bid, the cheapest being A110 MES at £250. The next auction is scheduled for June 2nd, 3rd and 4th at Whittlebury Hall, Northamptonshire.
